Style Trends at LFW
London Fashion Week came to a close last week having attracted admiring glances and commentary from across the globe.
Vogue editor-in-chief, and Queen of the front rows Anna Wintour commented "We used to come here and think it's all going to be eccentric and street chic, and actually it's incredibly grown up, polished and sexy, glamorous clothes so it's a global stage now - it's wonderful.” Whilst a line up including www.libertylondongirl.com founder, Sasha Wilkins on Radio 4’s Women’s Hour declared that London was now firmly on a par with Milan, Paris and New York at the top of the fashion ladder.
Many people have suggested that the key behind London’s success was the clearly defined trends emerging, and not a collection of individual and quirky street style shows. So what were the key trends?
HIPS – the making of a curve
Sculpted outfits with layers and padding to emphaise the hips in a beautiful way adding shape and elegance. Antonio Berardi’s collection showed the way but was joined by Stella McCartney, McQ, and Burberry among others.

In the That-Dress collection we suggest you look towards the Francis and Romeo dresses from Ophelia is Lost, and the Navy and Stone dress from Narciss.
Winter Florals
Carrying on from the spring summer shows, and the bold prints were some amazing winter floral designs. Leaders of the floral pack were Erdem and Giles, but again they were not alone with McQ, Temperley and Kane all showing flowers in a range of winter palettes, textures and textiles.

The Longer Skirt
Feminine, flirty and fun, the longer skirt was a key element in LFW, with designs coming from Stella McCartney, Giles and Roksanda Illincic among others. Colours and textiles varied enormously, with more architectural designs in satins competing with a thick-as-crochet tangerine weave appliquéd onto a flesh-coloured mesh column dress.
It has memories of the fifties and the Mad Men styles that have been around for a couple of seasons, yet comes with such beauty and fun it cannot fail to lift the spirit of even the harshest naysayers of fashion. Just remember to wear some big heels.
